About this work
Chicago museum, after the charity gala's live auction. On the marble stair hall, Celine presses a coat-check ticket into his palm. She is married. Her husband is still in the gallery, fighting a lot. The man holding the ticket did not buy the table. He is a junior from the bank.
Beyond the velvet rope is the Impressionist wing, closed tonight. The gala is two rooms away. The staff closet behind coat check is supposed to be locked. Return the ticket at the counter and the night is a favor. Cross the rope and it stops being about the coat.
